Firewalking - Skeptic's Version
Left, Firewalking
in the Fuji Islands, South Pacific. Note how the fire has been
reduced to coals.
The many modern debunkers of firewalking say that an insulating
layer of ash over the coals, or tough feet, keep firewalkers from
getting burned. It's almost an oxymoron, but there are such things
as cool fires. Cool fires smolder instead of blaze, and smolder is
what is happening to the coals in these firewalks. Notice how
a path of glowing embers has been raked between the flames, they
walk on glowing coals, not flaming wood.
