The Fox sisters, Margaret,
Katie and Leah, became world-famous for their "spirit-rapping".
Knocking sounds were heard at their small farmhouse in 1847. Soon crowds
came around, and they later gave
performances all over America to packed auditoriums. By 1888
it was estimated that eight million Americans, and many more in
Europe, were practicing Spiritualism and going to seances.
