Are you interested in the idea of self hypnosis? People everywhere are interested in the idea of putting themselves in a trance. Many believe that when they're in that trance, when they become a their own hypnosis instructor, they'll be empowered to demonstrate great feats of wonder. They will overcome a learning disability, experience weight loss hypnosis, even have hypnosis orgasm.
Self hypnosis doesn't really work that way. And it will take a lot of time and work. Here's a method used by New York hypnotist Naomi Sarna:
Curling up. Sarna uses a counting hypnosis technique to hypnotize herself. When she says numbers outloud, she visualizes those numbers and then sees herself curled up within them. The hypnosis instructions are to see yourself nestling comfortably in the curve of a 3, 5, or perhaps 6.
Whizzing by. When attending boring meetings use the hypnosis technique of of time progression. When you want time to pass quickly, use self hypnosis and say to yourself, 'Time is racing by. Every minute seems like one second.' I can tolerate any speaker for a few seconds."
Imaginary cell phone call Don't want people to thing you're talking to yourself when you practice self hypnosis? Pretend your talking on your cell phone while giving yourself hypnotic suggestions. Take it from Sarna, the hypnotized girl.
Sometimes going to a hypnotist is the right idea. Other times use hypnotic tapes. But there are those occasions when self hypnosis is the perfect choice. Its a useful skill to know because you never know when you may need to calm yourself, you may want to reinforce a hypnotic session that you've already had with a hypnotist, or you just may want to save money.
