Stonehenge III dates to about 2000 BC and consisted of the erection of the great lintelled sarsen
stones that most psychic investigators identify with Stonehenge. The blue stones were removed
and replaced with five very large, free-standing 'trilithons' arranged in a hourseshoe shape. A surrounding
circle was formed with 30 slightly smaller sarsen uprights topped with lintels, forming a ring of stone
16 feet high.
This strange monument was known in ancient times. Traditional midsummer festivals were held at
Stonehenge. In 1222 the Bishop of Salisbury referred to these Summer Rites as 'vile and indecorous
games'. These gathering reminded the early Church fathers of earlier pagan rites complete with nudity
and ritual sex.
